Beekman Point Engineering delivered comprehensive mechanical and plumbing design services for the new 88,000 sq. ft Southern Foods meat and fish processing, cold storage, and distribution center in Greensboro, NC. Our HVAC design encompassed a range of specialized areas, including the R&D center, commercial kitchen, office spaces, IT closets, dry storage, and distribution zones. The solution featured multi-zone VAV systems with packaged rooftop units, Dedicated Outside Air Systems tailored for the kitchen area, and thorough site commissioning to ensure optimal performance. The plumbing design incorporated innovative features such as ozonated water systems for bacteria control in fish processing, compressed air systems, extensive trench drains with solids collection, 180°F washdown capabilities, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, and standard facility support systems. Full commissioning services were provided, with all HVAC and plumbing systems tested against our written sequences of operation to ensure complete compliance with the design intent.
