Beekman Point Engineering served as the prime consultant for thiscomplex electrical and seismic upgrade project.Building H at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center is a critical supportfacility housing backup and emergency generators, associatedswitchgear, a loading dock, and storage areas. This project focused onupgrading Building H to meet current VA seismic design guidelines andexpanding the facility by one additional floor to accommodate up tothree new generators, associated switchgear, panels, and the electricalinfrastructure required to fully separate emergency and backup powersystems. The upgrades also included provision of 96 hours of on-site fuelstorage to support emergency power operations.
