At the core of the HVAC design is a central chilled water plant consisting of two 100-ton air-cooled chillers, with near 100% redundancy. These chillers are controlled such either one or both chillers will run at the optimum energy efficiency to consume the least energy. Similar energy efficiency concepts are included with the redundant chilled water pumps. Moreover, the single chilled water pump will operate up to its peak efficiency point of roughly 50% flow while above 50% a second pump will start allowing both pumps to operate near their higher efficiency points and will share the load evenly to maximize energy efficiency.
